This comprehensive guide will hopefully help you select the best red dresses to wear for any occasion, for street style, travel, sightseeing, color shoes to wear with a red dress, and all other accessories that are appropriate.
1. What Color Shoes To Wear With A Red Dress?
Natural Light Brown Flat Sandals With A Red Dress
I wore this red dress with natural light brown flat sandals when I was on a holiday in Marrakech, Morocco. I love wearing different shoes in various outfits, however, when I travel I tend to pack light. That means having to sacrifice by packing fewer pairs of shoes.

These pair of sandals in natural light brown color is the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn while walking all day, traveling and sightseeing. The most important features are the secured backing, ankle, and front straps, and the cushioned insole and outsole.
I even survived wearing these sandals in the rain. The rubber outsole is also non-slip.
In addition to comfort, these flat sandals are also chic, simple, sleek, and match perfectly with any outfit and even on a red dress.
I wore this red dress while sightseeing in Morocco without even overthinking whether these sandals would match or not. But what can you do? When you’re traveling light, you have no choice but to wear a versatile pair of shoes.

What Color Shoes To Wear With A Red Dress?
Gold Shoes With A Red Dress
One of my favorite color shoes to wear with a red dress is a metallic gold pair of shoes, either ballet flats, flat sandals, or high heels.
I usually prefer to wear it with a cooler faded gold-toned, rose gold, or a warmer gold toned in ballet flats, loafers, and flat sandals if worn during the day for an everyday look while out and about with friends and family to a restaurant, shopping, sightseeing and traveling.
I would definitely wear a warmer goldtone or a lightly cooler sparkly gold-tone and rose gold high heels for nighttime wear to a restaurant, a cocktail party, events, wedding, and any special occasion.
Black Shoes With A Red Dress
Have you already decided on what color shoes to wear with a red dress, yet? How about a pair of black sandals or heels? Any black shoes go well with a red dress. A pair of black heels look so elegant and sophisticated with a red dress especially if worn on a cocktail party, formal party, a wedding, and a special occasion.
Sometimes a red dress contrasting a dainty black pair of heels perfectly exudes elegance and sophistication. However, it really depends on the style of heels.
I wouldn’t pair black chunky shoes with a red dress on a formal special occasion, unless, of course, you would rather want to look less formal.
For daytime wear and walking shoes with a red dress, I’d definitely choose a black pair of flat sandals or a black pair of ballet flats.
As for me, I’d much rather be very comfortable yet chic and stylish. So I suggest choosing fashionable flat shoes yet extremely comfortable in the insole to provide extra grip, support, and long-lasting comfort.
Floral Shoes With A Red Dress
A nice pair of floral pastel shoes would go well with a red dress so long as they don’t look too overwhelming.
For daytime wear, try pairing it with a pair of floral loafers.
For a nighttime wear, pair your red dress with floral heels to enhance the colors and brightness.
What Color Shoes To Wear With A Red Dress?
Beige, Nude, And Blush Shoes With A Red Dress
My favorite colors are beige, nude, and blush shoes because they go well with any outfit in different colors. These are good contrasting neutral colors to wear with a red dress.
If you want to emphasize the style and color of your red dress, try wearing any shades of beige, nude, and blush pair of shoes. They also highlight chic, elegance, and simplicity.
As always, I love wearing a pair of nude flat sandals, and nude loafers for walking around, sightseeing, and out and about with friends to a restaurant during the day and night.
But, I’d definitely pair my favorite nude heels for a nighttime dinner with friends, or on special occasions, wedding and a cocktail party.
Two-Tone or Mixed Colored Shoes With Red Dresses
I love black, gold, and nude mixed together in a pair of shoes. If you love two or three different shoe colors, why not wear a pair of two-tone or mixed colored shoes with your red dress?
I find that some gold or nude toe-caps or heels look amazing with black and other colors. The Black and gold two-tone also looks elegant and beautiful with any outfit. Red and white look sexy together.
However, sometimes it might be quite a challenge to style with a mixture of shoe colors in a red bold dress with other accessories, but it can certainly be worn depending on how bright those mixed colors are. Just remember not to wear a super bright pair of shoes, so it won’t clash with the red dress.
That being said, if you’ve got a really good eye for detail, stylish, and a style-savvy babe, you can easily pull off any mixed intricate colored shoes or perhaps a complex printed pair of shoes with a red dress.
Red Shoes With Red Dresses
Of course, you can wear a pair of red shoes with your red dress. However, I wouldn’t personally wear a pair of red flat shoes during the day and not even at nighttime. But everyone has a different taste in style, and no doubt there are plenty of red shoes you can wear with a red dress.
I personally do not like to match a red bright and bold colored dress with another red bold pair of shoes. It just screams “too much”, and simply quite overwhelming on the eyes.
That being said, a pair of red heels can certainly look good in a red dress if you’re attending a very formal event, such as a red carpet, or on someone’s wedding day.
Brown Shoes With A Red Dress
Brown is also my favorite color for shoes. However, it depends on the shade of brown. I personally prefer a tan shade of brown, light brown, and a medium shade of brown.
Similar to some nude colors, brown/tan or light brown shoes are actually a very close match to most skin tones. So if you wear these types of colored shoes it would almost blend in with your own skin tone.
If you’re out and about during the day wandering around the city, exploring, sightseeing, or just catching up with friends, and if you’re wearing a red dress, then I’d recommend pairing it with a pair of brown flat shoes or sandals.
If you look at the red dress that I wore in Morocco, I wore my light brown pair of sandals everywhere because it looks chic, less dressy, yet effortlessly stylish with any outfit.
Of course, it would still look great with any red dresses. However, most brown/tan, and other shades of brown shoes with red dresses can look less informal, or less dressy look. Especially if those shades match your skin tone.
So, if you’re wearing a red dress to a very formal event such as someone’s wedding day, formal parties, cocktail, then I wouldn’t recommend wearing most brown shades of shoes. I would definitely choose either gold, black, two-tone gold and nude, and even a floral colored shoes (shown above).
That being said, a pair of brown heels would still look great in any red dress on different occasion, it really depends on how you wear your shoes with your dress. It’s how you carry yourself can make you look either chic, effortless, elegant or less informal.
White Shoes With Red Dresses
I don’t always like white shoes, but I love white dresses and tops.
Pairing white shoes with a red dress is perfect for spring and summer, which can be an alternative to black and nude. White shoes are definitely less bold than black, gold, red, some florals, and other colors.
But white shoes are still bright enough and contrasting to the red dress, this, of course, depends on your skin tone.
White flat sandals and white sneakers definitely look amazing in a red dress or with any outfit. It’s a perfect way to dress down to a semi-casual look yet chic and effortless if you pair your red dress with these white shoes.
If you want to look elegant and dressed up, then choose an intricate or dainty pair of white heels that contrast and compliments your red dress. I’d definitely choose stiletto heels rather than those big chunk of block heels.
2. A Spaghetti Red Dress
I didn’t really plan on wearing this spaghetti red dress in Morocco because I thought that it was slightly revealing. However, you can still wear a dress in Morocco as long as you have to be covered if visiting a Mosque.
I wore this dress while sightseeing around the city. But as you can see, I did carry my trusted white scarf the entire time because I still wanted to cover my shoulders and chest in most places out of respect.
This dress is appropriate enough. It’s extremely comfortable to wear on a hot summer day. The material is breathable enough. It’s stretchable, and it’s made of cotton, polyester, and spandex.
I love the fact that this dress can be worn on a day and night time outfit. You can easily dress it down or up depending on the types of occasions or the type of look you’re aiming for.
Since I wore this red dress during the day, I paired it with different accessories to make it look more of a semi-chic casual dress for daytime wear. See the accessories below this.

3. How To Wear A Red Dress With A Scarf?
You can certainly pair a red sexy dress with a light scarf. It balances out the sexiness with elegance.
If you are wearing a red dress to a special occasion, for instance, to a wedding, and a formal party, I suggest wearing a light scarf as a shawl or just to throw over your shoulders for more of an elegant and sophisticated look.
Also, if you’re wearing a red dress like this dress I wore in Morrocco, I highly recommend to carry or wear a scarf so you can readily cover your chest and shoulders while in a Muslim country.
I would recommend wearing a white, nude, light pink, beige or black scarf with your red dress. I wouldn’t usually wear a bold color scarf because it would be too overwhelming with a red dress.
A red dress is already such a bright and bold color so you’d definitely want to choose something slightly contrasting to balance out and accentuate your overall style.
4. How To Wear A Dress With A Bag?
Different types of bags can be worn with a red dress depending on the occasion and the look you’re aiming for. In this red dress that I wore in Morocco, I paired it with my rattan bag during the day. It looks semi-casual yet elegant and sexy.
For a daytime bag, it’s nice to pair a bag that’s also quite classic and timeless that you can fit your essentials.
This rattan bag (straw bag) is spacious enough to fit my iPhone, lipstick, cream, my blusher, and cards. In fact, it has enough space that I can fit some additional makeup products and other things that I could carry around during the day and night.
5. How To Wear A Red Dress With A Headscarf Or A Fabric Headband?
You can also tie light and small scarf around your head to make it look like you’re wearing a headband.
This is a nice way to add some accessories for your hair and accentuate your look.
You can also tie your hair with a light scarf. I think this way it would look so effortless, chic, elegant, bohemian.
I wore my favorite light scarf around my head while I was in Morocco in my red dress and in most of the dresses that I wore in Morocco.
Find below for some really nice light scarf that I think they would look perfect in any dresses for your next adventure and outfit.
Which shoes are your favorites? I would definitely wear the rose gold, metallic gold, nudes, and black with my red dress. I hope this post was helpful. Good luck in choosing your next pair of shoes for your red dress.
