While Paris is more than just your typical tourist attractions, monuments, museums, history, art, language, food, music but a Parisian way of living that consists of Parisian cafes, restaurants, boutique shops, the walkable cobblestoned Parisian streets on those cute narrow streets, full of characters, those Haussman characteristic buildings, the arrondissements (neighborhoods) and many more.
The architectural Haussmann, Renaissance, Romans, and Baroque buildings relics as a backdrop in Paris are so enticing, magical, and magnificent.
I often find myself feeling excited and smiling after having been to Paris multiple times and even just by thinking about Paris. For me, Paris not only lives up to its reputation, but it certainly exceeds it.

This article is only a simple guide, and therefore you don’t necessarily have to follow or cover all the sights to see in Paris in one day. I understand that it may take longer to get to and even visit a few museums and walk around in-between places.

Given that you have only 3 to 4 days in Paris, if I was visiting Paris for the first time, I’d be very careful with time management.
Follow your selected itinerary, stay organized and stay slightly flexible in case you’re running late to your next place to see in Paris, as buses and metro are also sometimes running late or you might have to stop by for Parisian lunch to take longer breaks, and so on.
Also, ensure that as soon as you arrive in Paris, try to sleep early at night and get as much rest so you can get up early in the morning the following day to start your Day 1 Paris itinerary.
Drink lots of water, of course, that will keep you hydrated and fight the jet lag as well (well, that’s usually my trick whenever I arrive in a new city).

1. The Louvre Museum: Best Things To Do In Paris Itinerary
The Louvre Museum is one of the best things to do in Paris, especially if you’re an art and history lover and insist on visiting a popular Museum in Paris, the Louvre Museum is an exceptionally popular attraction that you can’t miss out on.
The Louvre Museum is home to classic and modern masterpieces, an incredible collection of world-famous artists such as The Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Delacroix’s Liberty, Venus de Milo, Michelangelo, and many more.
I had been to the Louvre Museum during my first visit to Paris in 2006 and I must say that my favorite part is by Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and Michaelangelo. I must have only spent about 1 to 2 hours in there. I am not a big fan of art and history.
The Louvre Museum can be tricky to visit, as it’s so popular that you could end up queuing and waiting to enter. If you have very limited time, buying an entry pass in advance might allow you to miss out on the queue. Find out more prices and information here.
If you’re not so much into art and history, an hour to two hours inside the museum is achievable, however, if you’re a true art and history lover, it could take weeks. Perhaps that could be an excuse for you to return to Paris and revisit the Louvre Museum.
This Louvre Museum entry is also another fast track which includes a two-hour guided tour inside and also allows you to miss out on long lines.
If there’s a particular piece of art that you want to explore and take photos with, I recommend prioritizing and heading towards there so you’re not wasting your time wandering around inside. There’s also a guided tour inside the Louvre if you insist on discovering most of the masterpieces.
Please note that the Louvre can get extremely busy, packed with tourists all day especially from mid-morning to early afternoon. So, you might want to arrive at the Louvre early in the morning depending on your chosen entry ticket and time slot if you buy your Louvre Museum entry ticket here.
For example, if you decide to buy this Louvre entry ticket, you can select your time slot before making a payment. The earliest they have available is at 10:30 am. If you arrive there 45 minutes to an hour earlier (before 10:30 am) they might be able to let you in before your selected time slot, though it’s not guaranteed. However, fast entry is not always guaranteed as sometimes you might have to wait up to 20 minutes (after your selected time slot) to be able to enter. This also depends on the season you’re visiting. Spring and summer seasons can get very busy so no doubt that you’ll probably have to wait.
Though, from my experience in the past, arriving much earlier was the best decision even if having to wait for 20-30 minutes before entering a time slot.

I understand that bus tours do fall behind on their scheduled time as there are so many tourists and not only that they also have to deal with traffic in the city.

If you’ve decided to buy one of the entry tickets for the Louvre Museum or the Paris PassLib, you can perhaps visit the Domaine National du Palais-Royal first thing in the morning.
You could try your best to be at the Domaine National du Palais-Royal before 8 am so it will give you at least 1 to 2 hours to walk around, take photos and videos without being surrounded by tourists.
You can also arrive there by 7 or 7:30 am to have your breakfast and enjoy the ambiance and views at one of the cafes. Having breakfast there will hopefully give you enough time to enjoy and relax before you head to the Louvre Museum early (before your chosen slot time). As mentioned, it is only a 4-minute walk so it would make sense to visit the Domaine National du Palais-Royal early in the morning.
Otherwise, if you find that 7 or 7:30 am is too early for you, then by no means, you can just visit the Domaine National du Palais-Royal after visiting the Louvre Museum. You can also enjoy your lunch there at one of the restaurants.

If you’ve decided to buy the Paris PassLib, you can easily walk from either the Louvre or the Domaine National du Palais-Royal to Chatelet – Les Halles Metro to get to the Eiffel Tower.
It should take you to Champs de Metro – Tour Eiffel and once you get off from that metro you’ll only have to walk about 6 minutes to the Eiffel Tower.
Alternatively, you can walk from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower which will take about 50 minutes and it’s probably the best option for sightseeing and experience the surrounding arrondissement (neighborhood) on foot.
As for me, I prefer to walk so I can experience the local area and be able to take beautiful photos and videos, so I wouldn’t mind walking distance. However, if you’re limited with time then you can perhaps take the metro or bus, though buses may take a bit longer due to traffic.

I was so mesmerized the first time I ever stood on the Pont Alexandre III bridge during my first visit to Paris. I remember just standing by the sidewalk holding on to the extravagant railing while overlooking the views of Paris and the Seine River contemplating my life.
Oh, I also took a few shots, and somehow the reflection from the sunset reflected on the gold lamps, ornates, and statues made me look nice and golden.
Note, you’ll never get sick of this bridge. So you’ll probably find yourself staying longer when you should be moving to your next destination. But there’s always another time. You could go back there during sunset or at night time so you’ll get to see all the illuminating lights coming from those elegant historic lamps.
8. Place de la Concorde A Must See In Paris
After visiting the Pont Alexandre III bridge, you can easily walk to the Place de la Concorde.
The Place de la Concorde is another free major public square in Paris, France. It’s known as one of the largest squares in the French capital. It is situated in the 8th arrondissement which is very close to the Champs-Elysees.
The Place de la Concorde is a breathtaking square with beautiful intricate architecture and fountains. You’ll also find some great statues even in the middle of it. Around the square, you’ll also find a great view of the Eiffel Tower.
Please note that sometimes they don’t close the area for pedestrians only, so you’ll probably notice that there will be lots of cars around. It’s a big round square so just be mindful of your surroundings, as the traffic can get chaotic over there. Crossing the road over there can be a challenge, too.
What amazes me is that not only the Place de la Concorde square is picturesque yet so chaotic with lots of traffic but it also has a significant history dating back to 1755 when it was designed by Ange-Jaques Gabriel and also during the French Revolution in 1789.

2. Musee d’Orsay Best Things To Do In Paris
Head over to the Musee d’Orsay after visiting the Palais Garnier as it’s only a 22-minute walk. While walking towards the Musee d’Orsay, you can stop by at Angelina Paris French Restaurant for a brunch or an early lunch and coffee. Their hot chocolate is very popular.
The Musee d’Orsay is another famous museum in Paris, France situated on the Left Bank of the Seine.
You’ll discover many museum holds that are mainly French art including furniture, paintings, sculptures, and photography dating back from 1848 to 1914.

3. Saint Germain des Pres, A Must See In Paris
After visiting the Musee d’Orsay why not explore the chic Saint Germain des Pres area which is situated in the 6th arrondissement.
Saint Germain des Pres is an upscale and posh neighborhood with premier fashion, posh shops, eateries, exceptional gastronomic craftsmen of chocolates, pastries, and bread.
Not only that this arrondissement is a posh area, but it’s also housed to quaint bookstores, literature fans, cafes like Flore that was once favored by writers such as Hemingway. You’ll find that many writers are also inspired to craft their stories and writing skills in this neighborhood similar to that of the Latin Quarter.

Rue de la Huchette is well known for an artery with one of the highest concentrations of restaurants predominantly Greek specialties.
Please note that the Latin Quarter is also a touristy area so be prepared to pay a hefty price tag on shopping as well as food if you get trapped in a restaurant or cafes that are catered for tourists.
Though, there are still a variety of options for cheap places to eat in the Latin Quarter area. Just make sure to check the price menu first before being seated.

5. Pantheon What To Do In Paris?
The Pantheon history is phenomenal as well as the architecture is immense that you simply cannot miss it.

The Pantheon is a building in the Latin Quarter that was built as a church dedicated to the patron and the memory of those who have marked French history since the French Revolution. It also has magnificent interiors that feature columns, paintings, and sculptures.
6. Notre Dame Best Things To Do In Paris
Notre Dame de Paris is another iconic and remarkable Gothic Cathedral of Paris and the capital’s major monument popular among tourists. It’s a Medieval Catholic Cathedral church situated on the Ile de la Cite in the 4th arrondissement of Paris.
Please note that Notre Dame’s main spire and the roof of the building collapsed due to the huge fire that took place. Taking one of the guided tours you’ll also get to learn more about the rebuilding and reconstruction steps of Notre Dame.

7. Pont des Art Paris Itinerary
The Pont des Arts or Passerelle des Arts is my other favorite bridge in Paris. It is very popular, packed with tourists and lovers. It’s a pedestrian bridge that crosses the River Seine.
While on top of the Pont des Arts bridge, you’ll be mesmerized by the 360 views of the European historical architecture of Paris as well as the spectacular view of the River Seine.
You’ll also get to watch the tour boats cruising just below the Pont des arts which will certainly give you a pleasant experience.
You simply cannot miss stepping on this wide historic bridge as it’s so picturesque and romantic. You’ll be able to capture some amazing shots with the French historical backdrop.
The only disappointment you’ll probably get to experience, though, is that you cannot tie the love locks on the bridge anymore, as the iron had already been replaced with glass walls on both sides of the bridge.
Albeit, lovers always seem to find alternative ways to express and lock their love life by writing their names on the glass walls of the bridge. Though, don’t quote me on this as I’m not sure if people are still allowed to write their names on the glass walls.
8. Pont Neuf Paris Itinerary
Pont Neuf is another romantic and oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris, France. It’s probably a good idea to come to this bridge as your last destination as you can head down to Vedettes du Pont Neuf to catch the tour boat.
Though some cruise boat pickup location is located near the Eiffel Tower, so it’s important to check the meeting point before buying your ticket here.
Pont Neuf bridge also has major connectivity for traffic, so just be careful crossing on this bridge. It’s right in the middle just across the Pont des Arts bridge which also stands by the western point of the Ile de la Cite.
Pont Neuf is another picturesque bridge offering so many backdrops of Paris.
9. River Seine Cruise Boat Best Things To Do In Paris
